Celebration Cakes

Looking back on my birthdays, I always had a homemade, decorated themed cake, as did my brother. My mom spent hours working her cake-art magic. From a pizza cake for my 8th Birthday to my beautiful 3 tier ballerina cake. My brother had a Nintendo cake, GI Joe cake, and many more. When I got older, I was so excited to help. Sometimes my job was to just turn the platter in a circle so my mom could pipe all around without stopping - to avoid a break in the piped border. I was also allowed to dumpout and re-fill the glass with warm water to help smooth out the icing. I am pretty sure that my love of decorating cakes and cupcakes stems from the very root that my mom put so much time and thought into my cakes as a child.
